LansoChat helps you practise a language by talking with people and with AI partners. To do that we need to look after some information about you. This page explains what we keep, why, and who helps us.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, your name and, if you choose one, a password (stored in a form nobody can read back).
- Your languages: where you're from, the languages you speak and are learning, and your level.
- Your conversations: what you say, the text of it and its translation, so you and your partners can read and replay them. This includes chats with AI partners and any flashcards you make.
- Credits: your balance, how you used your credits, and a record of any credits you buy.
- Technical details: your network address and basic information about your browser, when you report a problem or when we need to keep the service safe.
How we use it
- To run your conversations: turning speech into text, translating it, and showing it to the people you're talking with.
- To sign you in, and to email you login links and receipts.
- To keep track of your credits.
- To fix problems and keep LansoChat safe and fair for everyone.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising. There are no ad trackers on LansoChat.
Who helps us
Like most apps, LansoChat relies on a few specialised service providers — the kind that apps like this one regularly use for exactly this work — each with mechanisms designed to keep your data safe. Each one only gets what it needs to do its part:
- Transcription and translation partners, who turn speech into text, translate it, and power the AI conversation partners.
- Voice generation partners, who read lines aloud in a natural voice.
- Hosting and database providers, where the app and your account are kept.
- An email provider, which delivers your login links and receipts.
- A payment provider, Stripe, which takes care of card payments when you buy credits. We never see your card number; we only share your email address so your receipt reaches you.

Cookies
We use a few small cookies and your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember your languages and settings. They're only there to make the app work, never for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and conversations while you have an account, so they're there when you come back. Payment records are kept as long as we need them for our accounts. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll delete your information, apart from anything we're required to keep by law.
We keep conversation recordings by default for benchmarking, to improve the quality of our transcription and translation. You can opt out of this on your profile page.
Your choices
You can see and change your details on your profile at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account.
Questions
For anything about your privacy, including the requests above, send us a message and we'll get back to you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
